Epiphany Day (6 January)
Epiphany is a Christian holiday observed on January 6 and celebrates the
revelation of God in human form through Jesus Christ. The villagers
attend mass at the Sts. Konstantinos and Eleni’s church and then proceed
to the fishing port to participate in the Great Blessing of the sea.
Volunteers dive into the sea and try to recover the cross thrown into
the sea by the priest. Tradition holds that whoever catches the cross
has good luck for the rest of the year!
