The Community of Kato Pyrgos is abundant in natural beauty, combining a rare option of mountain, sea and fresh water activities.

Swimming / Snorkelling / Walking / Picnic Sites / Cycling

Kato Pyrgos is the perfect place for relaxing, sunbathing and swimming! You can swim in the clear cool water, snorkel, revitalize yourself and enjoy the sun, under the blue sky, lying on the beach…

The beaches in Kato Pyrgos are famous for their cool and lucid waters, ideal for the hot summer months. You can also moor your boat or yacht at the fishing port, walk along the beach, enjoy the sea, pick some pebbles and watch the magnificent sunset! Moreover, you can try a boat-trip or fishing-trip with the warm-hearted and friendly fishermen!

The trees next to the sea of Krioneri beach offer shade and a place for an unforgettable picnic. The reason that the beach is called Krioneri (Cold Water) is because cold water from the Flevas River discharges on the sea! The “Omega” beach is the second beach in the village. Its name is derived from the last letter of the Greek alphabet, omega (Ù / ù), because the shore forms an “omega” shape. The third beach is the Apothikes (Storehouses) beach so named after a 1920s building used as a storehouse for agricultural products. Now it is used for the lodging of the Community Council of Kato Pyrgos. The Community of Kato Pyrgos plans to renovate the building and convert it into a Museum and a Cultural Centre of the village for exhibiting the findings of the area. After swimming, you can try fresh fish, seafood and other local specialties at the local taverns along the seaside street.

In the afternoon, you can take your bicycle and go around the village. Go to the village square, the heart of the community, and see the centenarian oak tree. It is nearly 110 years old… Continue cycling, riding uphill, observing old traditional houses with blooming gardens. Follow the signs and reach “Troulli”, the Venetian Tower, make a stop to admire the horizon and then back to the seaside road upto the small kiosk where you can sit and enjoy refreshments and ice-cream! If you get thirsty during your tour don’t worry, because there are traditional potable water faucets almost everywhere around the village!
