EDEN Route 3: Kato Pyrgos – Polis – Latsi – Baths
of Aphrodite The breeze of the sea!
The EDEN Route 3 starts from the awarded village
of Kato Pyrgos as a "European Destination of Excellence in Aquatic
Tourism 2010" in the framework of the program EDEN - European
Destinations of Excellence. The village is rich in history and natural
beauty. The ruins of the medieval tower (Observatory) is a place where
visitors can enjoy the panoramic view of the area. It is an ideal place
for swimming as it is renowned for its clear blue waters. Next stop is
the seaside resort, Polis, also known as Polis Chrysochous. Polis has
been awarded "European Destination of Excellence in Accessible Tourism
2013". The EDEN Route 3 is ideal for sea lovers since most of the
interested points in the area reveal the clear blue sea. The picturesque
harbour of Latchi or Lakki is ideal for traditional seafood and other
Cypriot delicacies. A must to go and visit is the famous Baths of
Aphrodite, that according to the myth, Aphrodite (Venus), the goddess of
love, used to have her bath at the natural cave. The EDEN Route 3 ends
at the Akamas peninsula, an area of great natural beauty, a landmass
untouched by development and full of endemic plants and ecosystems.
