EDEN Route 2: Vouni Panagias – Cedar Valley –
Panagia tou Kykkou Monastery – Stavros tis Psokas – Kato Pyrgos
The serenity of the nature!
The EDEN Route 2 is one of the most beautiful
ways to explore Cyprus by car as a large part of the area is
non-residential and falls under the Paphos Forest. Suggested start point
of this route is the village of Pano Panagia which is dedicated to
Panagia (Virgin Mary). Vouni (Pano) Panagias has been awarded "Tourism
and Protected Areas 2009". The unique wild nature made the area to be
included in the list of the protected areas NATURA 2000 sites as Special
Protection Area (SPA) and as Sites of Conservation Interest. Besides the
natural beauty, the area offers remarkable wine experience with three
(3) wineries that produce some of the best wines of Cyprus. The nature
lovers will be charmed by the Cedar Valley, one of the rarest and most
beautiful ecosystems in the island. Moreover, there are three nature
trails to explore at the Stavros tis Psokas area. Another option is to
ascend the Tripylos Mountain (alt. 1,452 meters) and admire the rich
natural environment with pine copses and the endemic cedars. It is
suggested to visit the Holy, Royal and Stavropegic Monastery of Kykkos
which was founded around the end of the 11th and the beginning of the
12th century. The EDEN Route 2 ends at Kato Pyrgos, a seaside village on
the north coast of Cyprus. For more information please check the
relevant brochure.
