Eligibility Criteria
The following criteria provide the guidelines for
filling-out of the application form, but they will be used during the
evaluation of the applications.
The Cyprus Tourism Organisation, invites the interested parties (Tourist
Destinations) to submit applications for the Action “Tourism and
Protected Areas”. The following criteria will be applicable:
1. Have a visitor density from “low” to
“very low” in comparison with the national average. Therefore a
destination must have no more than 10,000 holidaymakers per annum.
2. The destination must be located in a
protected area (NATURA 2000 defined by the laws Í.152(É)/2003,
Í.153(É)/2003 and the amended law Í. 131 (É)/2006) which falls
within the boundaries of the destination (partly or as a whole).
3. Local authorities must be actively
involved in the organization of local events and activities, aiming
at the promotion of the protected and surrounding areas, ensuring
its social, cultural and environmental sustainability.
